On March 8th, CBEN, the Cognition, Behavior & Evolution Network, organizes a discussion evening between primatologists Jan van Hooff and Tetsuro Matsuzawa. The evening starts with a lecture by each of them and is followed by a discussion along different theses that are of interest to a broader audience, such as the following statements:
• Insight in the evolution of human cognition can be obtained through researching apes.
• Only humans have emotions.
• In Japan, robots have a soul.
These and more theses will be discussed by the Japanese and Dutch primatologists Tetsuro Matsuzawa and Jan van Hooff in the special ambience of the Leiden Sieboldhuis.
The discussion evening welcomes a broad and interested public and will take place on March 8, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Rapenburg 19 in Leiden. Although access to the event is free, a ticket is required as the museum will be open especially for this event already at 5:30 p.m.. A ticket can be bought online (€ 8,- for one adult) or at the entrance. There are only 45 seats available so space is limited and registration in advance is required and can be done here!
