Sena Yıldırım has joined CoPAN!

Sena Yıldırım has been joining the CoPAN Lab at Leiden University as an Erasmus exchange student. She is a master’s student in clinical psychology with a keen interest in the expression of emotions—an intriguing topic that bridges clinical research and neuroscience. During her internship, Sena has been assisting Iza Korsmit with an emotion-induction study designed to elicit genuine emotional responses, such as surprise, fear, disgust, and laughter. The study aims to capture authentic facial expressions for a database of emotions while investigating the relationship between these expressions and self-reported experiences.

Last week, the study will continued with sessions at the Artis Groote Museum on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, preparations are underway for another experiment that will focus on fear and disgust manipulations as key variables. Sena shared her thoughts on the internship, stating: “This opportunity has given me valuable hands-on experience in emotion research and expanded my understanding of the field. I’m excited to continue contributing to this fascinating research!”
